Pre season update

27 Mar 2020

We hope all members are keeping as well and as safe as possible in the circumstances.

The club received some initial guidance from the ECB, supported by the Herts Saracens League regarding cricket related activities, which recommended that “all forms of recreational cricket are for now suspended " such as winter nets.

As the weather improves, we ask that the outdoor nets are not used for the time being in order to comply with that guidance.

Further announcements are expected from the league and we will keep everyone informed, as soon as possible.

The usual ground preparations are being carried out in advance of the season on all the club’s grounds including all necessary repairs and maintenance, so that they are ready for use when the time comes. The wickets are being prepared, the outfields are being cut and the sight screens are being repaired at St George’s, while taking into consideration social distancing guidelines. The club also had to invest in a new roller for the Common earlier in the year.

It is the hope of the entire cricket community that we will still be able to make something of the season in whatever form possible.

If there is anything the club can do to help those who are self-isolated, such as assistance with deliveries, please feel free to contact any member of the Exec.
