We are delighted to confirm that junior cricket training will begin from Thursday 2nd July.
Despite the considerable delay the club is offering the full junior season of 10 weeks of training, running through to early September. We will have more coaches than previously working with each age group and hope to arrange matches once we receive further instruction regarding the resumption of cricket.
The current ECB guidelines mean the training sessions will need to be altered from the usual format in a number of ways:
- Each session will be broken down into pods of five juniors who will train with one coach. They will each use the nets and outfield to practice all elements of the game.
- Every child should bring their own equipment and hand sanitiser.
- Bats and balls will be shared within the pod and sanitised as necessary.
- Equipment for hard ball cricket – pads, helmets etc – must not be shared.
The new timetable is shown below. Some age groups are split into two to accommodate everyone.
4-00 – 5-00 Boys Year 3 group 1
5-15 – 6-15 Boys Year 3 group 2
6.30 – 8-00 Boys Years 8 & 9
4-00 - 5-00 Boys Year 4 group 1
5-15 - 6-15 Boys Year 4 group 2
6-30 - 8-00 Boys Year 5
09-00 - 10.30 Girls Years 3 - 8
11-00 - 12-00 Boys Year 6
12-15 - 13-15 Boys Year 7
We have to restrict the numbers in each age group so if you have not yet taken out 2020 Membership could you please do so within the next 7 days. The relevant forms are attached.
Qualified coaches will be active at all sessions but junior training benefits hugely when volunteer coaches and parent helpers get involved. If you could offer your services to support our junior training then please contact Scott Galloway, Junior Director – email@example.com.
We will write again next week with further details on the sessions.
