You will have seen (with some relief!) that organised outdoor sport is permitted to start from today in line with the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown.
The ECB have also issued guidance over the weekend what this means for outdoor cricket and therefore how we can use the nets on the Common.
As things stand ‘organised sport’ means sport organised and run by a qualified instructor or club. As such, we cannot currently allow the nets to be used on an informal basis as we have done previously. We can only use them for organised sessions. This is likely to change again on 12th April but until then, we need to comply with the Government and ECB guidance to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our members.
Junior training formally commences on 15th April. We are also running Easter training camps on a limited basis which are being overseen and run by our qualified coaches.
Our Director of Junior Cricket, Scott Galloway, will be sending out a separate note to the junior section with full details about junior training shortly, which should answer any questions you may have.
Any additional queries can be addressed directly to Scott – firstname.lastname@example.org
Senior Nets will formally commence in w/c 19th April. Further details will follow nearer the time.
In the interim, we are intending to run net sessions on a team / squad basis for the forthcoming weeks. So if you would like to get in some pre-season practice, please can you contact the captain (or captains) of the teams you regularly play for, so they can assemble a group of players and we can then allocate sessions accordingly.
We will let you know if anything changes on 12th April but for the time being our intention is to allow as much use of the nets as we can within the current guidelines.
