I am sad to report that Ernie Tyerman passed away over the weekend.
Many of you will remember Ernie who was a stalwart member of Harpenden CC for many years and a gentleman in every sense of the word.
On the field he was a long serving member of the 1st XI and achieved the rare feat of taking all 10 wickets in a match, one of only two Harpenden players to do so in the Club’s recorded history.
Off the field he was a President of the Club and remained an enthusiastic and loyal supporter throughout his life. No more is this evident than the electronic scoreboard within the pavilion that Ernie very generously donated to the Club and which will serve as a lasting legacy to Ernie and to his commitment to cricket in Harpenden for years to come.
Our thoughts are with Ernie’s son David and his family at this very sad time.
With best wishes,
