Conclusion of the Senior Men’s League season

On a low-scoring final Saturday of the season, our seven Senior Men’s teams rounded off their League campaigns with five victories.

The 1st team got back to winning ways, beating Hertford by 27 runs. Chris Swanson scored valuable runs before the bowling attack skittled out the opposition:
Harpenden: 165 all out off 41.4 overs (Swanson 46)
Hertford: 138 all out off 33.1 overs (bowling figures currently unavailable)
The boys finish a very creditable second in the Premiership table, just 17 points behind Totteridge Millhillians.

The 2nd team couldn’t get the better of Holtwhites-Trinibus and lost by 5 wickets. Ed Washington and Nick Reeves struck half-centuries::
Harpenden: 181 all out off 46.1 overs (Washington 54, Reeves 52)
Holtwhites-Trinibus: 184-5 off 36 overs (G Moxham 2-27, B Barcock 2-45)
The 2s finish sixth in Division 2A.

The 3rd team took care of business with a 4-wicket victory over Hatfield & Crusaders:
Hatfield & Crusaders: 132 all out off 38.5 overs (Dugmore 3-25, Pearson 2-8)
Harpenden: 136-6 off 31.2 overs (G Taylor 36 not out, Pearson 35)
The 3s finish seventh in Division 4A.

The 4th team comfortably dispatched Northwood Town 2s by 6 wickets. Adam Dyson grabbed a 4-fer, and Ben Newton and Michael Voigt posted half-centuries:
Northwood Town: 162 all out off 36.1 overs (Dyson 4-10, Mohammad Umar 3-19)
Harpenden: 164-4 off 26.1 overs (Newton 65, Voigt 53 not out)
The 4s finish an excellent fourth in their first season following promotion to Division 7 West.

The 5th team couldn’t post a defendable total and went down by 8 wickets to London Colney 2s:
Harpenden: 127 all out off 38.2 overs (Pollard-Beaton 35, J Bell 28)
London Colney: 130-2 off 24.3 overs (J Taylor 2-34)
The 5s finish eighth in Division 10 West.

The 6th team won again, this time defeating Northwood 5s by 3 wickets. Jude Jackson took 3 wickets and George Wenn scored an unbeaten half-century:
Northwood: 180-7 off 40 overs (Jackson 3-18, Skinner 2-24)
Harpenden: 181-7 off 38.3 overs (Wenn 56 not out, J Gill 29)
The 6s finish seventh in Division 13 West with a very creditable 8 wins.

The 7th team earned their second win of the season with a thrillingly narrow 2-wicket victory over Rickmansworth 5s. Aaron Case took 3 wickets and the evergreen Guy Dunham carried his bat to see us home, ably supported by Nathan Bashford:
Rickmansworth: 133 all out off 32.3 overs (Case 3-14)
Harpenden: 134-8 off 38.4 overs (Dunham 45 not out, N Bashford 29)
The 7s finish tenth in Division 14 West.
