Five wins from the seven Men’s Senior teams, again, and the Women’s 1s

A century from Andrew Neal; half-centuries from Messrs Tulett, Farr, Howard and Elledge; and from Banks and Ruxton; and our U13 Girls go marching on

The 1st team don’t know how to be beaten, seeing off Potters Bar by 31 runs. Andrew Neal scored an unbeaten ton and Will Latham and Harry Seagrave grabbed 3 wickets apiece:
Harpenden: 208-6 off 56 overs (Neal 102 not out)
Potters Bar: 177 all out off 45.2 overs (W Latham 3-17, Seagrave 3-36)

Our U13 Girls beat a strong Ealing side by 5 wickets in the Area semi-final of the National Cup. They now advance to the national quarter-finals:
Ealing: 98 all out off 19 overs (L Moxham 3-15)
Harpenden: 99-2 off 11.5 overs (H Cole 47 not out, L Moxham 39)

The Women’s 1st team breezed past Bedford by 10 wickets courtesy of unbeaten half-centuries from Charlotte Banks and Lizzie Ruxton:
Bedford: 144-7 off 35 overs
Harpenden: 145-0 off 22 overs (Banks 64 not out, Ruxton 62 not out)

The 2nd team squeezed past Abbots Langley by 14 runs thanks to vital knocks from Dom Tulett and Dan Bradley, and 4 wickets from Jack Doyle:
Harpenden: 209-9 off 47 overs (Tulett 78, Bradley 42)
Abbots Langley: 197-9 off 47 overs (Doyle 4-28)

The Women’s 2nd team went down narrowly to Luton Town & Indians, falling just 17 runs short of victory:
Luton Town & Indians: 119-7 off 30 overs (Holly Russell 3-11)
Harpenden: 102 all out off 25.5 overs (Jo Karunaratne 34)

The 3rd team were beaten by 95 runs by Broxbourne 2s despite solid runs from the Bens, Griggs and Grimberg:
Broxbourne: 212-7 off 46 overs
Harpenden: 135 all out off 40.5 overs (Griggs 43, Grimberg 40)

In a crunch game, the second-placed 4th team got the better of table-topping Redbourn by just 5 runs in a thriller at The G. Young Toby Bell played an innings of great maturity before skipper Mike Hughes held his nerve with 3 late wickets, cleverly having their last batter caught on the boundary rope by Voigty with six to win off the last ball. Phew!:
Harpenden: 165-8 off 40 overs (T Bell 46 not out)
Redbourn: 160-9 off 40 overs (Hughes 3-35)

The 5th team took care of business with a 61-run victory against Rickmansworth 4s. There were half-centuries from Henry Farr and Joss Howard and 3 more wickets from Ravi Chittimalla:
Harpenden: 186-8 off 40 overs (Farr 58 not out, Howard 54)
Rickmansworth: 125 all out off 33.2 overs (Chittimalla 3-16)

The 6th team couldn’t quite get past Ley Hills 2s, losing by just 3 wickets despite posting a solid total with the bat:
Harpenden: 194 all out off 38.3 overs (Harry Matthews 37 not out, S Arnold 33, Hannah Stobbs 31)
Ley Hill: 198-7 off 37.5 overs

The 7th team recorded an emphatic 9-wicket win over Letchworth Garden City 6s, featuring 4 wickets from Samuel Ebbutt and an unbeaten half-century from the evergreen Andy Elledge:
LGC: 118 all out off 31 overs (Ebbutt 4-17)
Harpenden: 119-1 (Elledge 58 not out)
