Martin joined Harpenden CC back in 1970 when his then club, Harpenden Ferndale, merged with HCC.

He was Chairman of our club for a number of years in the 1990s, and one of six honorary life members - posts of which he was extremely proud.

Martin's son, Simon, is a longstanding member of the club and says that his father's main legacy was the levelling of the ground during his tenure as Chairman - a development which he hoped would benefit the whole Harpenden community. How right he was.

A minute's silence was held before the start of all the Men's Senior matches on Saturday and the Women's 1st team game on Sunday. The club's flag has been flying at half-mast.

Our sincere condolences to Martin's family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
