If you have ever heard of a phenomenon known as Alert Fatigue you'll understand why I am posting this article.
If not, here's a quick explainer; Alert Fatigue is a situation where a user receives so many alerts and messages from an App or software product that eventually, everything just gets ignored or switched off by the user, therefore completely removing the usefulness of the feature.
It's the digital equivalent of crying wolf.
And so this leads me to something that was flagged to me this week about Pitchero:
By default, notifications on the Pitchero App are set to ON for all news and all teams events (including squad selections and match results). Now, i'm sure you can agree in normal circumstances, would be a good thing!
However, HCC is a big club with 40 + teams across Men's, Women's and Junior cricket and so, as the season gets going and those teams start to select match day teams, post results and match reports, you can see how a member, whose primary interest is the 1st XI for example, could soon be overwhelmed with information about every squad in the club.
Fortunately the solution is (relatively) simple !
To manage your notifications:
Repeat this process for each team you wish to mute.
Unfortunately it's a very manual process (we have raised this with Pitchero about how to make this easier) but it only takes a minute or two to complete and then you will be sure you will only receive information from the club that is relevant to you.
More information on on Notifications can be found on the Pitchero website:
