
The 1st team knuckled down after a sticky start with the bat to beat rivals Potters Bar by 44 runs and remain unbeaten in the League. Olly Batchelor’s brilliant ton included eleven 4s and six 6s. Ben Frazer and Liam Dudding both took three wickets:
Harpenden: 232 all out off 46.3 overs (Batchelor 133)
Potters Bar: 188 all out off 48.5 overs (Frazer 3-19, Dudding 3-28)
Meanwhile, on Sunday the 1st team valiantly went down narrowly to Peterborough Town in round 2 of the ECB National Club Championship. Despite four wickets from Harry Seagrave and half-centuries from Jimmy Latham and Olly Batchelor, our boys fell short by just 24 runs:
Peterborough Town: 251-8 off 40 overs (Seagrave 4-32, Dudding 2-56)
Harpenden: 227 all out off 38.3 overs (Latham 51, Batchelor 50)
The 2nd team recorded a resounding 153-run victory over Abbots Langley. Dom Tulett and Ed Washington scored half-centuries before young George Moxham and Aidan Hincks took five and three wickets each respectively as the oppo was comprehensively skittled in little more than 20 overs:
Harpenden: 214-9 off 50 overs (Tulett 58, Washington 56)
Abbots Langley: 61 all out off 22.2 overs (G Moxham 5-19, Hincks 3-14)
The 3rd team had a sub-optimal day at the office, going down by 9 wickets to Broxbourne 2s:
Harpenden: 73 all out off 26 overs (G Taylor 23)
Broxbourne: 75-1 off 15.2 overs
The 4th team suffered the first defeat of their campaign, losing by 7 wickets to Redbourn 3s:
Harpenden: 150-8 off 40 overs (Behl 44, Pollard-Beeton 36 not out)
Redbourn: 151-3 off 35.4 overs
Despite a strong all-round performance from Toby Sutherland, the 5th team narrowly lost a low-scoring game against Rickmansworth 4s, falling just 30 runs short:
Rickmansworth: 111 all out off 36.4 overs (A Card 3-11, T Sutherland 3-26)
Harpenden: 81 all out off 25.5 overs (T Sutherland 27)
The 6th team were on the wrong end of a 6-wicket defeat to Ley Hill 2s:
Harpenden: 128 all out off 40 overs (Dunham 40, Elledge 26)
Ley Hill: 130-4 off 25.1 overs
The 7th team recorded a thumping 176-run victory over Letchworth Garden City 6s, courtesy of a Greg Mitchell half-century in an imposing total and solid bowling across the board, the highlight of which was four wickets for Josh Goulbourne:
Harpenden: 253-6 off 40 overs (Mitchell 61, A Kington 40)
Letchworth Garden City: 77 all out off 23 overs (J Goulbourne, J Kington 2-11, J Hill 2-14)
