Jonathan Taylor24 May - 15:28

Centuries from Jimmy Latham and Olly Batchelor secure comprehensive win over Radlett; young Liam Roche with a brilliant half-century for the 7s

The 1st team cranked it up a gear by hammering rivals Radlett by 8 wickets. Jesse Tashkoff grabbed 4 wickets with the ball then skipper Jimmy Latham and Olly Batchelor each racked up a century in an imperious run chase:
Radlett: 253-6 off 50 overs (Tashkoff 4-45)
Harpenden: 259-2 off 45.4 overs (J Latham 110 not out, Batchelor 108)

The 2nd team got really close to beating Radlett 2s on The Common but fell just 26 runs short. Kavin Vidhya and Jack Doyle both took three wickets:
Radlett: 181-9 off 50 overs (Doyle 3-14, Vidhya 3-47)
Harpenden: 155 all out off 43.5 overs (B Luffman 35)

In an all-Harpenden affair, the Women’s 2nd team took on the Women’s 3rd team in the league. It was a tight game, the 2s coming out on top by 16 runs:
Harpenden 2s: 153-6 off 25 overs (Holly Milnes 48; Mareia Hussain 2-7, Georgia Vallat 2-19)
Harpenden 3s: 137-8 off 25 overs (Grace Betteridge 3-12, Aoife Hegarty 2-17)

The 3rd team found it tough going away at Sandridge and lost by 183 runs. Ben Barcock and Joss Howard each took 3 wickets:
Sandridge: 268-8 off 50 overs (B Barcock 3-33, J Howard 3-40)
Harpenden: 85 all out off 27 overs (Yurkvich 37)

The 4th team so nearly took the scalp of Bushey 2s in a topsy-turvy match but in the end narrowly lost by just 3 wickets in the very final over of the day. Todd Baines struck an excellent half-century and Cam Holland played an innings of great maturity. Adam Dyson bowled nicely for his 3 wickets:
Harpenden: 182-5 off 40 overs (Baines 76 not out, Holland 48)
Bushey: 188-7 off 39.4 overs (Dyson 3-17, J Taylor 2-40)

The 5th team played well to earn a 4-wicket victory over Old Elizabethans 3s. The ever-dependable Ravi Chittimalla struck with 3 wickets and Hannah Stobbs took us home with the bat:
Old Elizabethans: 160 all out off 36.1 overs (Chittimalla 3-23, Michael Allan 2-23)
Harpenden: 162-6 off 37.5 overs (Stobbs 42 not out, Bailey 30)

The 6th team lost to Dunstable Town 4s by 10 wickets despite a solid innings from both Steven Jallport and skipper Ben Fagg:
Harpenden: 111 all out off 36.1 overs (S Jallport 39, Fagg 32)
Dunstable Town: 112-0 off 11.3 overs

There were plenty of reasons for optimism despite the 7th team going down to Potten End by 158 runs. Josh Hill took 3 wickets and young Liam Roche took a brace himself then scored a wonderful 70 with the bat:
Potten End: 291-9 off 40 overs (Hill 3-60, Ivo McGrandle 2-42, Roche 2-43)
Harpenden: 133-9 off 38.3 overs (Roche 70)
