Our U17 Boys were crowned County Champions yesterday after beating West Herts at WHCC.
Congratulations to all the boys!
Below is a summary of the afternoon's events from the team's manager Rod Jones.
What a day. Thanks to all the boys for a mature and professional performance.
From brilliant opening spells from Kavin Vidhya (2-18 off 6 overs) and Charlie Moxham (1-19 from 8), backed up by Haydan Cobb (2-fer), Joe Basquille, George Moxham (1 wicket each) and Will Talley before Chris Karunaratne (3-23 off 5) removed the tail. Good fielding and smart catches all round. We dismissed West Herts for 134 in 34.4 overs, inside their allotted 40.
This was followed by a cracking chase. George Wenn and Charlie M’s opening partnership (38) got us off to a great start and then Haydan, Joe Basquille (42) and Kavin combined superbly before Ben Barcock and Michael Allan brought it home. Arthur Deutrom kept a tight ship behind the stumps (including a stumping) and Ben B and Will Talley played crucial parts. We got over the line by 5 wickets with 9 overs to spare.
A great bunch of lads and I hope they feel part of the club for a long time to come.
