Hearty congratulations to Andrew Neal who has won himself a richly deserved contract with Hampshire for the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Well done mate!
The 1st team suffered their first League defeat of the season, going down to Totteridge Millhillians by 3 wickets. Despite a gutsy half-century from skipper Jimmy Latham and 3 more wickets from Liam Dudding, our boys couldn’t quite defend a low total:
Harpenden: 117 all out off 42.5 overs (J Latham 51)
Totteridge Millhillians: 118-7 off 30.4 overs (Dudding 3-38)
The Women’s 1st team beat St Margaretsbury by 8 wickets with Lottie Taylor smashing an unbeaten half-century off just 26 balls on her club debut:
St Margaretsbury: 97-4 off 20 overs
Harpenden: 101-2 off 11.4 overs (Taylor 51 not out)
The 2nd team endured a narrow defeat, losing by 29 runs to Leverstock Green. Ed Washington and Dom Tulett scored half-centuries:
Leverstock Green: 288-5 off 50 overs
Harpenden: 259 all out off 48.5 overs (Washington 85, Tulett 64)
The Women’s 2nd team lost to Flitwick by 100 runs:
Flitwick: 145-2 off 20 overs
Harpenden: 45 all out off 17.5 overs
In a close shave, the 3rd team beat Kings Langley by just 4 runs. There were runs from skipper Jack Killen and Ollie Tuck, and 3 wickets apiece for Michael Smith and Joe Basquille:
Harpenden: 191-8 off 50 overs (Killen 56, Tuck 44)
Kings Langley: 187 all out off 48.2 overs (Smith 3-27, Basquille 3-33)
The 4th team kept their impressive unbeaten streak going with a routine 8-wicket win over Kings Langley 2s. Will Pearson grabbed 3 wickets and there was yet another half-century from Michael Voigt, ably supported by skipper Mike Hughes:
Kings Langley: 133 all out off 39.5 overs (Pearson 3-17)
Harpenden: 134-2 off 28.1 overs (Voigt 74, Hughes 34 not out)
The 5th team fell to an 8-wicket defeat to Offley & Stopsley despite a half-century from Graeme Sprowson:
Harpenden: 148-8 off 40 overs (Sprowson 50, D Karunaratne 32)
Offley & Stopsley: 152-2 off 35.4 overs
The 6th team defeated Northwood Town by 7 wickets. No further details at the time of writing but I do believe Andy Elledge scored his second consecutive half-century:
Northwood Town: 156-8 off 40 overs
Harpenden: 158-3 off 31.2 overs
The 7th team put solid runs on the board, courtesy of an unbeaten century from Greg Mitchell and a strong knock from Harry Edward, but Weston 2s chased them down and won by 7 wickets:
Harpenden: 195-3 off 40 overs (Mitchell 108 not out, Edward 37)
Weston: 197-3 off 30.5 overs
