Wins for our top five Men's teams and both Women’s teams

Five wins from the Men’s Senior teams with half-centuries galore; a maiden half-century from Evelyn Newton; and a 5-fer from Ben Frazer

The 1st team just keep on trucking in highly impressive fashion, this time getting past Flitwick by 113 runs. Scott Galloway and Olly Batchelor scored big runs and Ben Frazer delivered runs AND wickets aplenty:
Harpenden: 265 all out off 55.2 overs (Galloway 87, Batchelor 76, Frazer 43)
Flitwick: 152 all out off 34.5 overs (Frazer 5-34, Usman Malik 3-26)

On Sunday, the 1st team won their semi-final at the Readers HPCL T20 Finals Day against Broxbourne by 7 runs, the highlight being Alex Gosling’s six-hitting prowess:
Harpenden: 148-7 off 20 overs (Gosling 56 not out)
Broxbourne: 141-6 off 20 overs
But they lost the final by 6 wickets to Radlett:
Harpenden: 130 all out off 19.4 overs
Radlett: 131-4 off 19.4 overs

In the HWCL 100 Cup, the Women’s 1st team beat Hertford by 5 wickets thanks in large part to a fine unbeaten half-century and career best from Evelyn Newton (a chip off the old block!):
Hertford: 129-3 off 20 overs
Harpenden: 131-3 off 17.1 overs (Newton 60 not out, Slade 36)

The 2nd team delivered a vital victory with a 5-wicket defeat of Sawbridgeworth courtesy of a strong all-round bowling performance:
Sawbridgeworth: 147 all out off 37.1 overs (Downes 3-10, Sivarajah 3-21)
Harpenden: 153-5 off 35.4 overs (Lamb 37, Tuck 36)

In the HWCL 100 Plate Competition, the Women’s 2nd team defeated Abbots Langley by 57 runs:
Abbots Langley: 130-7 off 20 overs [Net Score 295] (Izzy Bates 2-18)
Harpenden: 162-2 off 20 overs [Net Score 352] (Holly Gamble 27)

The 3rd team earned a nerve-shredding victory, by just a solitary run, against Hatfield & Crusaders:
Harpenden: 148-9 off 40 overs (Killen 42 not out)
Hatfield & Crusaders: 147-7 off 40 overs (bowling figures TBC)

The 4th team won their sixth match out of seven and closed the gap on leaders Redbourn with a dominant 130-run defeat of Boxmoor 2s. A strong batting line-up delivered three (and nearly four) half-centuries in an imposing total and then Matt Ball swept away the oppo’s middle order with 4 wickets:
Harpenden: 281-6 off 40 overs (Behl 63, Voigt 59, Sambrook 55, Grimberg 47)
Boxmoor: 151-8 off 40 overs (Ball 4-27)

The 5th team enjoyed a comfortable 7-wicket win over Luton Town & Indians 4s with Ravi Chittimalla grabbing 4 wickets and Cameron Holland striking a fine half-century:
Luton Town & Indians: 136 all out off 36.5 overs (Chittimalla 4-30, Toby Bell 2-9)
Harpenden: 138-3 off 31.3 overs (Holland 79)

The 6th team couldn’t put enough runs on the board and went down by 6 wickets to Eaton Bray 2s:
Harpenden: 117 all out off 35 overs
Eaton Bray: 121-4 off 30 overs (Goulbourne 2-15, Alvi 2-15)

The 7th team lost to OAs 4s by 80 runs despite 3 wickets each from Jude Jackson and George Roberts:
OAs: 181-7 off 40 overs (Jackson 3-18, Roberts 3-29)
Harpenden: 101 all out off 33.2 overs
