Harpenden 6th's welcomed Datchworth 3's to a soggy, but sunny Rothamsted, and in Andy Lewis's absence Tim Spencer won the toss and elected to bat first.
However, after only 2 overs, he may have been questioning that decision with 2 wickets down and only 2 runs on the board. But worry not with the sensible head of Jim Gill and the aggression of Waj Rizvi a splendid recovery ensued until Gill departed for a well made 16 with the score on 70.
When Rizvi was out for an excellent 55 with the score on 108 and 6 wickets down, a competitive total looked a stretch. No need to be concerned as a combination of Ebbutt (17), Edward (12.n.o), Spencer (Years of Experience) and Extras got us up to an excellent 152-8 from our 40 overs.
Details of Datchworth's reply are still scarce at the moment but enough is known to get to this week's happy ending!
Another tight opening spell by Ravi, and excellent fielding never let Datchworth get going. More tight bowling followed from Wenn (4-19), Ebbutt (2-5) and Spencer (2-7) ensure Datchworth only limped to 66 all out after 27 over, and another 30 points gained.
Big thanks to Tim Spencer for Captaining the side, and also to Platty and the Grounds Team for getting the ground ready for play
