As we, like almost every team, were rained off on Saturday it seemed like a good opportunity to have a look at where we were so far.
In my head before the season began I wanted us to be the following:-
- Be hard to beat, make the oppo earn there 30 points
- Be positive on the Field and make it a decent environment for all, young or slightly more mature!
Nice & simple!!!
Well on the whole I think we're pretty much on track.
Having had a great start to the season with 5 straight wins things, on the face of it, have stalled a little with 2 defeats and 2 games lost to the weather. However in both those games we have been competitive and have made the opposition fight and earn their wins, so lots of positives to take into the next 9 weeks.
There have been some promising performances from the younger team members, Tom Harvey & Tom Buckley, Sam Ebbutt, Cameron Holland & Harry Edward (apologies if I missed anyone) all of whom have contributed at key times. As important has also been the support and availability of some more mature members especially Messrs Dunham, Elledge, Fagg & Luffman.
If there is moan, then it's a more general one, and it's really something we need to be aware of across the entire playing membership. We pride ourselves, and rightly talk about ourselves as the' Carlsberg' of Cricket Clubs. This is dependent on many things but your availability to play for whatever team you are picked in is key to our success. You may think you are a better player than the side you have been picked for, and you may well be so, but perform in the team you are picked in and hopefully the rest will take care of itself. If you have a problem just talk to one of the Captains.!!!
So on we go, looking forward to a great second half of the season for all 7 sides
Cheers
Andy
