Saturday 13th saw us visit Redbourn for the first reverse fixture of the season.

As Tony Hadley would say 'To cut a long story short' we didn't get enough runs, and we didn't bowl well enough, so we ended up with a 5 wicket defeat. Although this was quite annoying I didn't lose my mind even though I was a little miffed.

However as always there are good things to talk about including Andy Elledge's 30 and George Brindleys breezy 20. In truth though a slow start, and then losing 3 wickets quickly just as we were back in a good position to push on, meant we were restricted to 134-6 from our 40 overs.

This was still a target, although 30 runs short, that gave us a chance provided we bowled well and supported the bowlers in the field. In truth though we probably bowled to many short balls, which were easier to deal with, and tended to relieve any pressure we had built up. Mention must be made to Louis Stockhuyzen, whose 5 overs yielded figures of 2-16, and to Harry Cheney on his league debut who also bowled well.

Redbourn reached the total with 6 overs to spare which makes the victory appear more comfortable than it was.

So we move on to a home fixture against Wheathampstead eager for the 30 points!!!!!
