The sun came out to welcome the debut game for the new Huskies U11 hardball team against Grand Union and it also brought plenty of smiles, enthusiam, team spirit and some outstanding bowling, batting and fielding to see off Grand Union 279 vs 208.
Every girl supported each other and contributed with both bat and ball. Fantastic to see our captain for the day Nina batting and bowling with her sister Zoe and both taking wickets and scoring runs in an unbeaten stand. Sophie smashed some great boundaries and Charlotte called and ran really well and delivered a very economical spell with the ball. Likewise both Isla and Emilia were in the wickets with Isla's action praised by the Hemel overseas pro and Emilia carrying her bat through her innings. Lula also remained undefeated with the bat and was the pick of the bowlers for economy rate. Katy cut loose in her batting, bludegeoning the ball to all parts of the ground.
So a great first performance but most importantly the girls carried themselves so well and smiled and encouraged each other throughout. With the sun finally out, cricket was defintely the winner today.
Thank also to Mark for umpiring today.
