What a day for cricket!
Despite the gloomy weather, our Huskies U13A headed to Bishops Stortford, ready to give it their all. The rain was already coming down when we arrived, and luck wasn't on our side at the toss—we were sent into bat first.
Batting was a slog—consistent bowlers, a tricky pitch, and the ball doing all sorts of tricks in the air and off the seam kept us to just 61 runs. Despite this modest total, the Huskies didn't let that dampen their spirits. They charged into fielding with heads high, snagging a couple of quick wickets and thinking maybe, just maybe, we could turn it around. But then those pesky leg-side boundaries from Bishops Stortford started flying, and they pulled ahead to take the win.
Not the best ending to our cup run, but we're not out of chances yet. We've got a home rematch this Thursday in the league semi, and we’re hoping for some sunshine this time around. Watch out, Bishops Stortford, we’re coming for you!
Big shout out to Ellie and Honey for toughing it out with the bat and giving us a total to bowl at, and a huge thanks to all the parents who braved the journey and cheered like champions. Bring on Thursday!
Go Huskies!
