On a beautiful spring evening at Tring the second 9 fell just short against a strong Tring side. We won the toss and elected to field figuring that the cold later in the evening would impact the fielding side more. After an early wicket for India, Tring went pretty hard with their number 3 particularly aggressive, and Tring racing to 76 for 1 from 9 overs. As the innings went on we started to gain some control back Sophie picking up a key wicket, another for India and run outs for Bea and Sophie. We fielded well and backed one another up brilliantly. special mention for Edda stepping up from the u13's who bowled with really nice control and was extremely unlucky not to pickup a wicket. Extras were a problem - we conceded 76 , something we'll need to work on as the season progresses.
A challenging target of 152 set , the Huskies were a bit slow to get away with Tring's best bowler proving very economical and threatening taking 3 early wickets. we lost a couple of early wickets before Bea and Emily launched a counterattack against Tring's spinner taking her for 14 runs in the 6th over. Despite good contributions from Bea (23 off 22) ,Emily (35 off 30) and support from the rest of the lineup we were always a bit behind the rate , in the end falling 22 short.
A really encouraging night for the rest of the season albeit with plenty to work on for the upcoming games
Thanks again to all the parents for coming to support, and to Jason and Vimal for Umpiring and Scoring.
