The Huskies fell just short again tonight away at Radlett, despite giving everything in a really close finish

Asha won the toss and as planned we decided to bat hoping to take advantage of the better light in the early evening. However we were immediately under pressure with Radlett opening bowlers economical and threatening we lost 4 early wickets, with Aarya, Asha, Bea and Emily all falling cheaply. Aditi came in in debut and immediately showed her class , mixing power with touch and control, she added 21 and was a touch unfortunate to get out, clipping the ball into her pads which looped to Radlett's keeper. The lower order rallied hard with contributions all round; the highlight being a career best of 22 from Rebecca who looks to have added some real power over the winter, pulling powerfully through square leg on several occasions. we ended on 132/8 perhaps slightly short of what we hoped for but nevertheless a defendable total.

Just as with the batting we started the bowling innings slightly slowly , with Radlett's openers in good control and our bowling a little wayward at times. An early wicket for Aditi did little to slow the scoring with Radlett reaching 90/1 in the 10th the game looked all but over. However the Huskies were determined as ever; a wicket for Rebecca followed quickly by another for Asha got us right back in the game. The scoring slowed to a crawl with the field set tight and the bowling much improved. Further wickets for Asha, Aditi, Sophie and Aarya gave us a really close finish with each run or dot being cheered from the side. Unfortunately we'd left ourselves just too much to do and Radlett got over the line with just 2 wickets to spare.

A fantastic effort to push them so close after the slow start in both innings. A win feels just around the corner with home games against Abbots Langley and OA's offering us a real chance to break our duck for the season. Special mention deserved for both Aditi and Rebecca who produced such strong all round performances, but everyone contributed to a excellent game played in good spirit.
