We lined up against Luton Women & Girls with a young team and a further four debutants. Well done to Emily, India, Bea and Harvey on their full debuts!

Amy won the toss and elected to field. We bowled really well throughout and restricted Luton to 103-7 off 25 overs. Wickets were spread around with Emily (2-16) and Thea (2-23) picking up two each. What really stood out was our energy in the field….lots of encouragement and backing up throughout as well as a great catch from Amelia to remove their best batter who was looking dangerous.

We went into the break confident but, after a good start by Holly and Thea, it was not to be. Very accurate bowling from Luton (only three wides in the whole innings) made it difficult for us and, despite a cameo from Amelia at the end (19 not out), we fell short by 30 runs.

Another creditable performance and we are gaining valuable experience every week. Its worth remembering that we are playing opponents’ first XI’s and the first two games have shown we can be really competitive in this league.
