The inaugural league game for Harpenden Women’s 2nd XI got off to a good start with Amy winning the toss and electing to field.
We started of well with some tight bowling and restricted Abbots Langley to 38 for 0 off 12 at the half way drinks break. The steady bowling continued and, although we were unable to take any wickets, we restricted them to 120 off their 25 overs. Strong bowling and fielding performances throughout but a special shout out to Hannah and Isla Cole who were both making their debuts for the senior team. Hannah kept wicket very well and there were a few tidy overs from Isla.
We started our innings confidently but unfortunately wickets tumbled at regular intervals and we were bowled out for 67. Special mention to Fiona who hit 30 off only 21 balls including four boundaries (as many as the other 21 players in the game combined!).
So, whilst we didn’t win, everyone enjoyed it and it was a very creditable 2nd team debut outing. Plenty to work on in training and we look forward to a successful and enjoyable season!
